I wanted to introduce myself, I'm Meg, and I'm the proud owner of Capelli Studios Ashby. The brand new, gorgeous hair salon based in the heart of Ashby de la Zouch.

I have been hairdressing nearly 10 years, and I thoroughly love my job. It has always been a dream to have my own hair salon. I still can't believe it!

I wanted my first blog to include basics, that we all should know, but probably don't regarding hair care.

  1. Don't wash your hair too much, you want to be aiming for once or twice a week, so that you aren't drying your hair out.

  2. That brings us straight onto shampoo and conditioners. Avoid any supermarket products for your hair, just don't waste your money. Most supermarket shampoo and conditioners can be quite stripping, so will pull your brand new hair colour out straight away, and the conditioner will create a coating on your hair.

  3. Try to do a hair mask or treatment a minimum of once a week, to really improve your hair health. Olaplex is always a favourite of mine, I use it on myself weekly and pop it in my hair before I go to the gym, or for a run. I get that it can be hard to find the time, but I promise it's so worth it.

  4. I feel like we all know this one, but heat protection! I know you've heard this a million times, but if you're a regular heat user or once in a blue moon, get that heat protector out gal!

  5. If you do use heat a lot, try and reduce this if you can. If you're running towards the straightners to help smooth your hair, try using a smoothing product or some oil to help with your frizz.

  6. Get regular trims at the hairdressers - This will help keep your hair in the best condition, by removing any split ends. It doesn't always have to be a big chop at the salon, sometimes removing the bad bits does the trick!

Did you know all of these, and more importantly do you follow those rules day to day?

If you would like more advice or have any questions, please just drop me a message or book in for an appointment at the salon.

Over and out,

Meg xox
